When you paint a colored object\/garment, the color of the paint blends, so to speak, with the current color of the object\/garment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Use Rit Color Remover when you want to lighten the existing color of the fabric. Rit Color Remover can only be used on cotton, linen, silk and nylon.<br \/>\nDo not use bleach to remove the existing color!<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Prewash the materials to remove any finishes or stains.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>&#8211; Preparing the dye solution:  <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For every pound of dry material, use 2 full scoops of dye. To achieve a darker or more intense color, double the amount.<br \/>\nCompletely dissolve the dye powder in 2 cups of water (as hot as is safe for the material).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Next, choose a dye method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sink or bucket method (for dyeing natural materials):<\/strong> For general dyeing projects, use the sink or bucket method (dye in hot water in a bucket or sink).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stove-top method:<\/strong> If you are looking for the most vibrant color possible (or you are dyeing synthetic materials or fabrics containing more than 35% polyester), use the stove-top method (dyeing in hot water in a pan).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Read the instructions on the package beforehand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For best results: read the instructions on the package beforehand, be sure to stir constantly for even color.<br \/>\nNote that the result depends on the amount of paint, dye time, type of fabric, current fabric color, dye bath temperature, etc., among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Color<\/strong><br \/>\nPaint blends with the existing color(s) of the fabric.<br \/>\nIf the garment you are dyeing is white or off-white, you should be able to achieve a corresponding color.<br \/>\nHowever, if your garment already has a color, your only option is to over-dye it with a darker color or remove the existing color with RIT Color Remover (for cotton, linen, silk and nylon only).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patterns and logos<\/strong><br \/>\nIf the garment you are dyeing has a pattern or logo, the color you use will blend with the existing color(s) in the fabric and create new colors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bleaching spots and sun damage<\/strong><br \/>\nSun and bleach damage the fabric, making it very difficult to dye.
