General information Rit Dye

Rit dyes can be used for many things. The most common is for dyeing clothes, but also curtains, cushion covers, etc. The most important thing to know when dyeing a fabric is its composition. Polyester and Natural fabrics are in fact very different from each other and need to be dyed differently.

When do you use Rit Dyemore?

Rit Dyemore is designed for Synthetic fabrics. This dye can be used for fabrics such as Polyester, Nylon, Acrylic and Acetate. Once you have a fabric that has part Natural and part Synthetic fibers, it depends on the percentage of Synthetic fibers which dye is best to use. If this gets above 35% always use Rit Dyemore.

How do you use the Rit Dyemore?

Synthetic fibers are more difficult to penetrate with dye. As a result, only the stove-top method can be used for dyeing. Other methods can not achieve optimal conditions which will result in staining or that fabric can't absorb the dye.

Stove-top Method: This involves dyeing using hot water in a pan on the stove.

This means that once you want to dye Synthetic material that does not fit in a pan on the stove it is unfortunately not dyeable.
