Always test first !
You can use Rit All-Purpose Dye for almost all natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, wool, silk and ramie. Also, this dye can be used for nylon and rayon.
Note that the result of the color is least affected on a light (white/cream) background. When you paint a colored object/garment, the color of the paint blends, so to speak, with the current color of the object/garment.
Color
Paint blends with the existing color(s) of the fabric.
If the garment you are dyeing is white or off-white, you should be able to achieve a corresponding color. However, if your garment already has a color, your only option is to over-dye it with a darker color.
Patterns and logos
If the garment you are dyeing has a pattern or logo, the color you use will blend with the existing color(s) in the fabric and create new colors.
Bleaching spots and sun damage
Sun and bleach damage the fabric, making it very difficult to dye. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot guarantee that dye will cover the stains.
Paint methods
Using this liquid dye, you can dye fabrics/materials through the following methods:
- Sink or bucket method: For general paint projects, use the sink or bucket method (paint in hot water in a bucket or sink).
- Stove-top method: If you are looking for the most vibrant color possible (or you are dyeing nylon), use the stove-top method (dyeing in hot water in a pan).
- Washing machine method: If you want to dye large items or are looking for the easiest dyeing method, use the washing machine method (dyeing in the washing machine).
On the website of Rit are color formulas For creating your perfect color!
1 bottle of Rit All-Purpose Dye is suitable for approximately 1kg of fabric.
For a lighter color, use less paint and vice versa.
For best results: read instructions beforehand, be sure to stir constantly for even color.
Note that the result depends on the amount of paint, dye time, type of fabric, current fabric color, dye bath temperature, etc., among others.
