Rit Color Remover (Powder)

Give your fabrics a fresh start

Do you want to re-dye a garment or remove an unwanted color? RIT Color Remover is specially formulated to remove existing color from fabrics, allowing you to create the most neutral base possible for a new dyeing project.

In addition, the Color Remover is also effective at removing dye stains caused by accidentally washing white laundry with colored clothing. It can also remove certain food stains—such as those from fruit, fruit juice, ketchup, and tea—from white fabrics.

Unlike traditional bleach, RIT Color Remover does not contain chlorine. This makes it safer for many fabrics, and you can re-dye the fabric with fabric dye after removing the color.

Suitable for

Rit Color Remover works best on cotton, linen, rayon, wool and ramie

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on synthetic fabrics and blue denim.

There is no guarantee that the color remover will work and/or completely remove the color or stains.

Usage

For best results, we recommend using the stovetop method, provided the fabric fits in a suitable pot. RIT Color Remover can also be used in the washing machine or with the bucket or sink method.

Because a washing machine is less effective at bleaching than the stovetop method, you’ll need more packages to actually bleach the fabric:

• Small load: 2 items (for example, socks, a T-shirt, or a skirt)
• Medium-sized load: 3 items (e.g., a sweater, pants, or a dress)
• Large laundry: 4 items (e.g., duvet cover or curtains)

Important

The final result depends on factors such as the type of fabric, how the fabric was originally dyed, and the amount of RIT Color Remover used. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all color or stains will be completely removed.
