Salt can be used in a beautiful way to create interesting effects in liquid watercolor, silk paint or batik/tie-dye.
It is a widely used technique in watercolor art that absorbs paint and forms crystals, creating an organic and random pattern.
Steps for using salt in watercolor/silk paint:
Applying paint:
Start by painting a background or area on your paper. It should be damp, but not too wet. Make sure the paint you use is fairly liquid.Adding salt:
While the paint is still wet, sprinkle the effect salt on the paint surface. You can sprinkle the salt onto the wet paint with your fingers or a spoon.
The more salt, the more paint is extracted, the more “speckles.Let it dry:
Let the paint and salt dry naturally. As the salt absorbs the paint, you will notice light spots or textures forming on the paper, depending on how much salt you use.Remove the salt:
Once the paint is completely dry, you can gently brush or wipe away the salt with a soft cloth or brush. What remains are the patterns the salt created.
