Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow is a high-quality, highly fluid, water-based textile dye that behaves like a true dye on fabric. Instead of remaining on the surface like traditional fabric paints, Dye-Na-Flow penetrates deep into the fibers. This keeps fabrics feeling soft, supple, and natural, while the colors remain exceptionally bright and vibrant. The dye is particularly well-suited for coloring larger areas. As the name suggests, Dye-Na-Flow flows across the fabric. This makes it unsuitable for precisely coloring individual areas, unless you use a resist technique.

The dye is permanent and wash-resistant after heat setting, and is suitable for a wide range of creative applications. Thanks to its thin consistency, Dye-Na-Flow can be applied with a brush, sponge, spray bottle, airbrush, or other decorative techniques.

Suitable for the following surfaces

Natural fabrics, synthetic fabrics, silk, cotton, canvas, leather, suede, paper, wood, clay, and other porous or semi-porous surfaces.

Applications and Techniques

Dye-Na-Flow is popular among artists, textile designers, and hobbyists because of its tremendous versatility. Among other things, the paint can be used for: textile painting, silk painting, tie-dye, airbrushing, stenciling, batik, marbling, sponge printing, sun printing, and resist techniques.

Setting the paint

Let the piece dry completely, then heat-set it by ironing the back of the fabric for about three minutes at the highest temperature suitable for the material.

If the material isn’t suitable for ironing, you can use a hair dryer to apply heat and set the paint. Once set, the colors are permanent and wash-resistant.

Working with the resist technique

With the Resist technique, lines are drawn on the fabric using Jacquard Water-Based Resist. Dye-Na-Flow can then be applied within these lines. The dye then flows out to the Resist line, which acts as a boundary, so to speak.
