General information Rit Dye

Rit dyes can be used for many things. The most common is for dyeing clothes, but also curtains, cushion covers, etc. The most important thing to know when dyeing a fabric is its composition. Polyester and Natural fabrics are in fact very different from each other and need to be dyed differently.

When do you use Rit All-Purpose Dye?

Rit All-Purpose dye is designed for Natural fabrics. This dye can be used for fabrics such as Wool, Cotton, Silk, Linen and Ramie. However, Rayon and Nylon can also be dyed with this. Once a fabric consists of more than 35% Synthetic material, this Dye can not be used. Use the Rit Dyemore instead.

How to use Rit All-Purpose Dye.

1 Stove-top Method: This involves dyeing using hot water in a pan on the stove. This often gives the most vibrant colors (This method should be used when dyeing Nylon)

2 Sink or bucket method: For general paint projects, use the sink or bucket method (dye in hot water in a bucket or sink).

3 Washing machine method: If you want to dye large items or are looking for the easiest dyeing method, use the washing machine method (dyeing in the washing machine)

Furthermore, Rit dyes are very good for Tie-dye projects.
